The secret of Vuelta Abajo lies underfoot. Its fine, sandy red soils drain perfectly while retaining just enough nutrients to nourish the tobacco plant without overwhelming it. Sheltered by gentle hills and warmed by a consistent subtropical climate, the valley enjoys precisely the balance of humidity, rainfall and sunshine that the Nicotiana tabacum plant craves. The Hands That Shape It

Each plant is tended by hand, its leaves harvested in stages from the bottom upward, then cured in traditional casas de tabaco where time, air and patience transform green leaf into supple gold.
