Plain Packaging in Belgium from 1 June 2026: What It Means for Cuban Cigar Boxes

From 1 June 2026, Belgium will introduce plain packaging rules for cigar boxes sold on the Belgian market. The visual appearance of packaging will change, but at La Casa del Habano Brussels, our commitment to authenticity, quality and careful storage remains the same.

What is changing?

Plain packaging means that cigar boxes sold in Belgium will have to follow a more neutral and standardised presentation. Colours, decorative elements and some traditional branding details may be reduced or removed according to the applicable rules.

What does this mean for Cuban cigars?

Cuban cigars are known for tradition, craftsmanship, origin and heritage. Their boxes have always been part of the identity of the product. From June 2026, Belgium will require a specific production adapted to the Belgian market. These Belgian-market boxes will comply with the new Belgian packaging requirements.

This change concerns the packaging presentation, not the quality of the cigars themselves.
